4 Must-Have Qualities Of A Good Dog Treat

Humans and dogs have a relationship that can be linked to the earliest civilization.

Some historians believe that dogs were once wolves that were domesticated some 20,000 to 40,000 years ago by the people of that time.

Others find that to be a ridiculous theory because wolves are much too aggressive to submit to man the way dogs do.

However, scientific evidence suggests that dogs are descendants of a wolves breed that are now extinct.

It is believed that man and wolves were competitors for food and the more aggressive members of that species were killed by hunters while the friendliest ones befriended men and were fed and domesticated.

Regardless of how dogs came to be, they are now invaluable members of society. As such, they should be given the best treats!

If you keep an eye out for the following, your dogs will love you more!

1.Dog treats should have natural ingredients

Remember, dogs are descendants of wolves and are classed as carnivores. This means that they enjoy eating meat.

So you should be looking for treats that are made with meat. Whether it’s bacon, chicken, beef, or duck…, ensure that your treats have real meat.

Be wary of “meat flavored” treats, these are not the same as the real thing!

2. Dog treats should always be fresh

Dogs don’t like stale foods. Offering your dog a stale treat is the easiest way to betray their love! Additionally, stale treats can make them sick.

When buying treats, pay close attention to the expiration date!

If you decide to make your own dog treats, only make a little and keep it sealed in an airtight container for freshness.

3. Dog treats should be full of flavor

Do you enjoy flavorless food? If no, why do you think your dog would?

Treats should be full of flavor and your dog should be excited every time you reach for the dog treat bag/container.

If they don’t taste good, your dog won’t be happy and you won’t get to see any tricks!

4. Dog treats should be affordable

Affordability is on this list because it determines how long you can afford to give your dog high-quality treats.

It’s important not to introduce your pet to treats that you can’t afford over long periods.

If you intend to teach your furry friend some tricks, you will need to provide consistent incentive!

For the best results, try not to skimp on any of these qualities.
